We are sailing the Caribbean and you can find us somewhere between the Bahamas and Grenada!
Why Maho?
After honeymooning in St. John USVI, specifically Maho Bay, was our happy place and go to destination. Our catamaran and home is also our happy place. We of course googled Maho before making our final decision on the name and found:
-
Maho, a West Indian Caribbean slang term for a man who spends too much time drinking beer and fishing on the beach
-
Maho, a tropical hibiscus tree common throughout the Caribbean
-
Maho, a name of Japanese origin meaning 'truth', depending on the characters used the Ma meaning 'love' and the Ho meaning 'to cross a body of water'
We are Claire Jonathan and Tito (the terrier). Our home port is Bluffton, SC and we are living and traveling on our 37' Island Spirit sailing catamaran, Maho.
